EducationAs a member of the Woodworker's Guild you are entitled to participate in any demonstrations and instructional sessions. In addition to these sessions, our guild partner, Keeseh Studios offers many classes and may offer discounts to Guild members.
DiscountsMany groups and organizations generously support the Guild. This is done by offering experts in the field to present at meetings, sponsoring of events and offering discounts on purchases. Woodcraft of Wallpole, MA offer discounts to members and we periodically announce other partners who may offer discounts.
Guild NewsletterEach month, "SHAVINGS," the official newsletter of the Guild, is published and distributed to the membership. It contains a synopsis of the previous meeting as well as a preview of the next meeting’s program. The publication offers a place for members to share their projects and thoughts on woodworking as well as showcasing their current projects.
Monthly MeetingsMeetings are held monthly at Studio Dunn in Rumford, Rhode Island. The meetings are on the first Wednesday of each month, except for the month of July. These meetings consist of a short business segment, a show and tell of completed work, a time for socializing and networking, and a monthly presentation by guest woodworkers from the woodworking community as well as members. These presentations commonly deal with skills and techniques, and many take the form of hands-on learning events for the members. Prospective members are encouraged to attend a meeting in advance of joining to see if the Guild is a fit for them.
All members have access to a large library of woodworking books and DVDs. After choosing the book you wish to borrow, just send an email to John Heany firstname.lastname@example.org and indicate what you wish to borrow. You can pick the book up at the next meeting. See the listing of library holdings here (link this to library pdf).
The Guild periodically hold special events for members, such as galleries of member’s work, field trips to museums, visits to shops and suppliers and holiday parties.
