How I Built This – Hollow moulding plane & Philadelphia style Chippendale Footstools and Seating Furniture. I will talk about my own “hollow” moulding plane, building on Ned’s great moulding plane talk from February. Then I’ll dig into some historical examples and museum pictures and show how they connect to a construction approach I’ve developed for the construction of non-rectilinear seating furniture with applied lips and slip (“loose”) seats. I will use the footstool from a show and tell about a year or so ago as an exemplar as well as some in progress variations.
