International Yacht Restoration School (IYRS) exclusive tour

What: The Woodworker’s Guild of Rhode Island is pleased to announce that the Newport, Rhode Island based International Yacht Restoration School (IYRS) has agreed to hold an
exclusive tour of their facility for Guild members and their guests.
Why: To demonstrate the woodworking art and science of boat building and restoration. How: Free parking is available in the lot at the front of the facility on Thames Street. IYRS: The International Yacht Restoration School (www.IYRS.edu), is a premier maritime trades
and modern manufacturing school. Founded in 1993, it initially focused on teaching fine craftsmanship and restoration skills for preserving maritime heritage through the restoration of historically significant wooden sailing yachts. Over time, IYRS has evolved into a world-class
institution offering four full-time, ACCSC-accredited experiential programs: Boatbuilding & Restoration, Composites Technology, Digital Modeling & Fabrication, and Marine Systems.
Students at IYRS come from diverse backgrounds and age groups, united by their passion for hands-on learning. Upon graduation, they embark on fulfilling careers across various industries, including yacht building, historic restoration, and fine furniture making.
