Steve Totin — Furniture Designer

Steve writes: During my junior year of college as a studio art major, I discovered a passion for woodworking, drawing inspiration from artists like Martin Puryear and Haroshi. After graduation, I moved back home and continued to experiment and learn using some of my dad’s tools. In that time, I built up a sculptural portfolio, which eventually led me to graduate school and a continued exploration of wood as a medium. During my talk, I will discuss how my current studio practice bridges the traditional and the digital by integrating cutting-edge tools like VR and 3D digital modeling with more traditional hands on techniques such as stack lamination.
